My research is concentrated in a number of interlinked areas. Over the years it has been funded by the following major grants and scholarships. Each project has led to the publication of a book and other related articles:

Contents Tourism

A five-year research grant (2014-2019) as project leader (daihyo, project co-leader Dr Takayoshi Yamamura) from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (Kiban A, 20-50 million yen category, JSPS Project Page, Japanese only).

Sakhalin

A three-year research grant (2011-2014) as a project member (buntansha, project leader Dr Svetlana Paichadze) from the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (Kiban B, 5-20 million yen category, details at the JSPS Project Page, Japanese only).

War and Memory in Hokkaido

Japanese Memories of the Asia-Pacific War

My DPhil at the University of Sussex (2000-2004) and during a Japanese Government Scholarship at the University of Tokyo (2002-2004).
